Kawah Ijen
A volcanic crater with a turquoise acid lake and rare 'blue fire' from burning sulphur gas, reached on a pre-dawn hike from Paltuding.
💡 Local tipDomestic Rp5,000 weekdays / Rp7,500 holidays; foreigners Rp100,000 / Rp150,000 (QRIS cashless only). The hike takes 2–2.5 hours; blue fire is visible about 01:00–04:00. A gas mask is essential at the crater. Book tickets online on busy weekends.
